Publishing Rules
- Types of Submitted Materials
- Article
An article is a full-length, technical original research document that reports results of major and archival value to the specific community of engineers that comprise the journal audience.
- Review Article
Review articles provide information about the topic, and also provide journal references to the original research.
- Innovation and Invention Reports
An innovation paper represents scholarly innovation in design that has technological implications. The archival value of such papers is in the innovation part of a design and not necessarily in the theory.
- Short paper (Technical Note)
Technical note reports results that are of significant and archival value to the engineering community; however, these works are more limited in scope and length than a research paper.
- Forums
These include letters to the editor, comments and responses, preliminary results or findings, and miscellany.
- Book Reviews

- A research paper or technical brief should be clear, concise, and complete, with assumptions plainly identified and data presented with precise logic, with relevance to practices described, and with actual accomplishments of the work clearly stated and honestly appraised
- The author has to strictly observe the scientific integrity of published research with regard to text rephrasing and reference citation in order to avoid falling into
- Submittal of a research paper or technical brief must be accompanied by a statement that it has been neither published nor submitted for publication elsewhere.
- All submitted papers will be refereed.
- Format of Submitted Manuscripts
The following guidelines should be strictly followed:
1- A request for publication should be submitted and signed by the author(s). The request should include the correspondence e-mail address.
2- Any published material cannot be republished elsewhere unless a written permission is given by the Publication Committee Board.
3- The manuscript is to be typed by means of Microsoft Word using Times New Roman, font 12 points, and one and half space. Footnotes and endnotes are permitted in the text.
4- The number of pages (including figures and tables) should not exceed 20 pages of size A4.
5- A separate page should be included and dedicated for the title. Then, on next lines type the full name of each author, his current affiliation, and complete address.
6- Manuscripts are to be sent through the E-mail address of the journal along with abstracts in English and Arabic, maximum of 200 words each.
7- All pictures, figures and tables should be submitted in a separate file.
8- Tables and figures are numbered separately with the caption of the table above, and the caption of the figure below.
9- References are mentioned numerically [between brackets] in the text and a list of references are provided at the end of the manuscript as follows:
a- Journals: [number] followed by the last name of the author (authors), First name or abbreviation, ”paper title” , journal title (in italic font), volume and issue numbers, (the year of publications between brackets) , and page numbers.
Example: Sawyer, D. A. “Pounding of Rainwater on Flexible Roof Systems,” Proceedings ASCE, Journal of the Structural Division, Vol. 93, No. 1, (1967), pp.127-147.
b- Books: Book references must include author, "book title (in italic font)", the publisher’s location, and publisher, and the year of publication.
Example: Feld, J., and Carper, K., "Construction failure", 2nd Ed., New York, Wiley, 1997.
10 - Received papers are not to be returned back to the authors.
11- The author has to make all necessary modifications stated in the reviewers’ comments. The non-modified comments have to be justified.
12- Two copies of the journal and twenty reprints of the accepted papers will be sent to the authors.
13- The published material reflects the view of the authors, and not necessarily those of the Publication Committee Board.
